WHY LINKS GOLF ACADEMY?
Links Golf Academy teaches the benefits of golf as a sport suitable for
all ages, offering exercise, relaxation and social interaction, which
is enjoyed in areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. Currently there
are two million players nation-wide. It is played by men and women of
all ages and from all walks of life. In a modern world of increasingly
hectic lifestyles, golf's social mix of sporting skill, fresh air and
shared fun provides the perfect antidote.
WHO IS INVOLVED IN LINKS GOLF ACADEMY?
Links Golf Academy is led by Bernard Firkins, a PGA professional with 30 years' experience.
As a tournament professional, Bernard enjoyed some success, qualifying
for the Open Championship in 1967 while winning the Sussex Open
Championship in 1971 and the Sussex Professional Championship on no
less than four occasions. It was, however, as a teaching professional
at Haywards Heath Golf Club that Bernard built his reputation as a
patient and encouraging coach, particularly with beginners. Today, he
teaches part-time and leads golf events throughout the season.
He comes from an extensive golfing family - two of his cousins played
in the Ryder Cup, his father was a club champion and his son, Gary, is
a feature writer for a leading golf magazine.
Bernard is based at Lindfield Golf Club(formerly known as Paxhill Park G.C.) situated in the quiet rural
Sussex countryside 1.5 miles from the historic village of Lindfield,
Haywards Heath, Sussex.
